After you order
This page covers what you get once an order is placed: the confirmation page, the emails, a tax receipt, and how to find your order again later. It picks up where Paying for your order leaves off.
The confirmation page
Section titled “The confirmation page”You land here right after you place a pay-later order, and when Stripe sends you back after a card payment. The page greets you by first name, as in “Thank you, Margaret!”, and says “Your order is in.” When a seller’s link credited the order, it adds “It’s credited to” the seller’s first name. It also says where the receipt goes. For a pay-later order it says “We sent a receipt to” your email address. For a card order it says “We’ll email a receipt to” your address, adding “once your payment is confirmed” while the payment is not confirmed yet. The order confirmation email goes out when the payment is confirmed, as the emails below explain.
Below that is a receipt for each order. It shows:
- Order and your order number, with a status label beside it, then the fundraiser’s name.
- For a pay-later order that is waiting on payment, a How to pay box with the organization’s instructions. See Pay later.
- Each item with its quantity, written like “x2”, and the options you chose.
- Subtotal, then the fees you paid, then Total. A fee line shows only if you paid it: UnitTally fee and Processing fee (estimated). When there is a processing fee, a note says it is an estimate. Fee lines and the total explains each line.
If your cart held items from more than one fundraiser, you get one receipt for each.
Under What happens next, numbered steps appear only for what is true of your order. Check your inbox for the receipt shows when you gave an email, except for a card order whose payment is not confirmed yet, since that receipt comes once the payment is confirmed. A pickup or delivery step shows when the fundraiser has pickup or delivery options, for example “Pick it up” with the time and place, or “Your scout delivers” with the dates. The seller word is the organization’s own. A Pay step shows for a pay-later order that still owes money.
At the bottom, Share this page with family opens your device’s share menu, or copies a link and shows “Link copied”. The link is the seller’s, when a seller’s link credited your order, and the fundraiser’s page otherwise. Order more goes back to the fundraiser. A fundraiser can send buyers on to another page instead. You then see “Redirecting in 5 seconds…”, with Continue now and Stay on this page, and “Automatic redirect canceled.” once you stay. Last on the page is a Look up an order link to order lookup.
The full receipt shows only when you arrive from checkout, and only for 30 minutes after you placed the order. After that, or if you open the page some other way, it shows just “Thank you!” and “Your order is in.” along with, when the address carries it, “Your order number is” and the number, and the Look up an order link. Use order lookup to see the whole order again.
Status labels
Section titled “Status labels”The label on each receipt says where that order stands.
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Payment processing | A card order whose payment is not confirmed yet. |
| Awaiting payment | A pay-later order the organization has not recorded as paid. It stays this way even if the organization has already handed the order over. |
| Payment confirmed | Paid, and not yet marked out for delivery or delivered. |
| Out for delivery | Paid, and the organization has marked it on its way. |
| Delivered | Paid, and the organization has marked it delivered. |
| Canceled | The order was canceled. |
| Refunded | The order was refunded in full, or a refund has returned at least the item prices. |
| Partially refunded | A paid order with a refund smaller than the item prices. |
A refund shows in place of Payment confirmed, Out for delivery or Delivered.
The emails
Section titled “The emails”Emails go to the address you gave at checkout. They come from the organization’s name followed by “via UnitTally”, for example “Lincoln PTA via UnitTally”. When the organization has a contact email, a reply goes to the organization, and the email ends “Replies to this email go to” the organization’s name. When it has none, the email ends “This address doesn’t take replies. To check on your order, use the order lookup:” with the lookup link.
There are two emails. Which one you get depends on how the order was paid.
The order confirmation email
Section titled “The order confirmation email”- Card order: it is sent when your payment is confirmed. It is not sent when you place the order, so it can arrive after you see the confirmation page.
- Pay-later order: it is sent when you place the order.
The email opens “Thanks,” and your name. The subject and first line depend on what has been paid across the whole checkout:
| Subject | First line | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your order from organization name is confirmed | Your order from organization name is confirmed. | Every order in the checkout is paid and none is refunded. |
| We received your order from organization name | We received your order from organization name. A pay-later order adds that the organization “will collect payment.” | Any order is still waiting on payment. |
| Your order from organization name | Here is your order from organization name. | Anything else, such as after a refund or cancellation. |
Then comes one section for each order:
- The fundraiser’s name, Order and the number, and in parentheses how it is paid: Card or Direct to the organization.
- Canceled or Refunded, when that is true of the order.
- How to pay with the organization’s instructions, for a pay-later order that is waiting on payment.
- How you get the order: the same pickup or delivery sentence as on the confirmation page, and for a delivery, “Delivering to” and your address. It is left out when the fundraiser has no pickup or delivery options.
- Each item as quantity, name, the variant in parentheses and the options after a dash, such as “2× Wreath (Large) — Red bow”, with its amount.
- Subtotal, the fee lines you paid, and Order total, with Refunded for a part refund. A processing fee brings the same estimate note.
After the orders, the email closes with Total paid: and, while anything is waiting on payment, Amount due:.
The payment-received email
Section titled “The payment-received email”This one is only for pay-later orders. It is sent when the organization records your cash, check or Venmo payment, or enters an order that was already paid. A card payment gets the confirmation email instead.
The subject is “Payment received for your order from” or “Payment received for your orders from” the organization’s name, and the first line says the organization “recorded your payment.” For each order it shows:
- The fundraiser’s name, Order and the number.
- The items, as in the confirmation email.
- Paid with Cash, Check or Venmo, when the organization recorded which.
- Paid on, as a date such as “October 22, 2026” in the organization’s time zone.
- Amount paid, and Refunded if part was returned.
With more than one order it adds Total paid:. It ends with a Look up your order link.
Tax receipts
Section titled “Tax receipts”When you add a gift, or buy something that includes a tax-deductible part, you can get a tax receipt in the email. It is part of the email, not a separate page, and the lookup page does not show it. It appears only when all of this is true:
- The organization is set up as tax-exempt.
- The order has a gift marked tax deductible, or an item the organization has set a value for what you receive, with part of the price above that value. See Add a gift.
- The order is paid and has no refund. A pay-later order is not paid at checkout, so its receipt comes with the payment-received email, which order lookup can also resend.
The receipt is headed Tax receipt and names the organization, with its EIN when the organization has entered one. It has up to two groups, each shown only when it has lines. Donations says “No goods or services were provided in exchange for these contributions.” and lists each gift as quantity, name and amount. Purchases that include a contribution says “Goods were provided; only the part above their value is deductible.” and lists each item with what you paid, the value of the goods you received and the deductible amount. Total tax-deductible adds both groups. It ends with:
- “Consult your tax advisor about the deductibility of your contribution.”
- The organization’s name followed by “is responsible for the accuracy of its tax-exempt status. UnitTally does not verify it.”
- “Keep this receipt for your tax records.”
Find your order later
Section titled “Find your order later”If you lose the confirmation page, look the order up. Every page of the organization’s store has a Look up an order link at the bottom, and so does the confirmation page. The payment-received email links to Look up your order. The confirmation email links to the lookup only when it says it takes no replies. The lookup page is also at the organization’s web address followed by /orders/lookup.
- Open the lookup page, titled Look up your order. It says “Enter the email address you used at checkout and your order number to view your receipt.”
- Enter your Email address and Order number. The order number and the email can be in any capitalization. Spaces around either are ignored.
- Select Find my order.
An order with no email on file cannot be found this way.
What a match shows
Section titled “What a match shows”A match opens a page titled Your order. It shows every order from the same checkout, each with:
- Order and the number, the status label from the table above, and the fundraiser’s name.
- The same pickup or delivery sentence as on the confirmation page, such as “Pick it up Saturday, Dec 6, 9 am to noon at the fire hall.” It does not show your delivery address. It is left out when the fundraiser has no pickup or delivery options.
- The items, Subtotal, the fees you paid, Payment (Card or Direct to the organization), Total, and Refunded when part was returned.
Under the orders it shows Total paid: once anything is paid, and Amount due: while any order is waiting on payment. Last on the page is a link out: Keep shopping goes to the fundraiser when every order is from one fundraiser that is still on the store, and Back to the store goes to the organization’s page otherwise.
The page can be reloaded for 30 minutes after you find the order. After that it says “This link has expired” and “Order links work for 30 minutes. Look up your order again with your email address and order number.” A link that is not usable at all says “This link isn’t valid” and “Look up your order with your email address and order number.” Both have a Look up your order button.
When nothing matches
Section titled “When nothing matches”You see “We couldn’t find that order” and “We couldn’t find an order matching the email address and order number you entered. Please double-check both and try again.” It does not say whether the email or the order number was wrong. Below that, “If you continue to have trouble, please contact” the organization’s name “for help with your order.” Try again returns to the form.
Resend the order email
Section titled “Resend the order email”Under the totals on the lookup page, Resend email sends the order’s email again to the address on the order, picked by where each order in the checkout stands now. A paid pay-later order gets the payment-received email. A paid card order, or a pay-later order not paid yet, gets the order confirmation. A checkout with both kinds gets both emails. As when the organization resends from its console, the confirmation covers the checkout’s paid orders and its pay-later orders not paid yet, and the payment-received email covers its paid orders. A card order whose payment is not confirmed yet, a canceled order and a refunded order get no email.
On success the page names what was sent and where: “Confirmation resent to”, “Payment receipt resent to”, or, when both went out, “Confirmation and payment receipt resent to”, then a masked form of your address, such as “b****@example.com”, which keeps the first letter and the domain. When one of the two emails went out and the other did not, the page adds which one it couldn’t send, such as “We couldn’t resend the payment receipt. Try again later.”
Three notices can stop it:
- Too many resends. “You’ve resent the email for this order a few times already. Please wait a little while before trying again, or check your spam folder.” The page does not say how long to wait.
- Nothing to resend. No order in the checkout has an email to send again. The message says why: “This order’s card payment hasn’t been confirmed, so there’s no email to resend. Please contact the organizer if you were charged.”, “This order was canceled, so there’s no email to resend.”, “This order was refunded, so there’s no email to resend.”, for a mix of those, “These orders were canceled, refunded or still waiting on a card payment, so there’s no email to resend.”, or, when the order changed while the email was being resent, “Your order changed while we were resending the email. Please try again.”
- We couldn’t resend that. “We couldn’t resend the email for this order. Please contact the organizer for help.” You see it when the order has no email to send to, when mail to that address has been stopped, for example after earlier mail bounced, or when no email could be sent.
If the 30 minutes have passed, you get the “This link has expired” page instead. Look the order up again first.
What you can’t do here
Section titled “What you can’t do here”The storefront has no way to change or cancel an order. You cannot edit the items, switch between pickup and delivery, or change your details after you place it. The only action on an order is the resend above.
To change or cancel an order, contact the organization and give your order number. When the organization has entered a contact email or phone number, the bottom of every store page shows it, with the email as “Questions? Contact” and the organization’s name. When your order email ends “Replies to this email go to” the organization’s name, replying to it reaches the organization.
