Sharing your link
This page is for a member who sells, or a parent selling for a child. It covers how to share your seller link and QR code, what a supporter sees when they arrive through it, and how credit for a sale reaches you.
Share your link
Section titled “Share your link”On your seller page, Share opens your phone’s share sheet with the link and a ready message, or copies the link where the browser has no share sheet. Copy link and Show QR code sit on your card on the home screen. A parent sees the same buttons for their child’s link. See Your seller page.
To copy the link, select Copy link. Beside Copy link is a small About the share link help icon. It says an order placed through the link is credited to you, or to your child for a parent, even if the buyer browses for a while first, and that the buyer needs no account. A notice, Link copied, shows the link you copied. If the browser refuses, the notice says “Could not copy to clipboard.” Try again, or open the QR code dialog and read the link there.
To show the QR code, select Show QR code. The Share your link dialog opens with:
- A line under the title. It reads “Your share link” for a member and “Share link for your child” for a parent.
- The QR code, with the organization’s name under it. Scanning it opens the same link.
- The link itself, as text.
- Copy link, which copies the link.
- Download QR, which saves the QR code as an SVG image file. Use it to print the code or add it to a flyer.
You can send the link or the QR code any way you like, such as a text message, an email or a team group chat. Your link is for your whole organization, not one campaign, and it works for any campaign the organization is running. If you sell in two organizations, each has its own link, so share the one from the right card. If your treasurer replaces your link, the old one and any QR code you printed stop working, and your buttons give the new one.
Some things hide the buttons. A suspended organization’s store is offline, so its seller page shows no Share and its card no Copy link or Show QR code. See When an organization is suspended. If a seller has no link yet, only Record a sale shows. Ask your treasurer.
What a supporter sees
Section titled “What a supporter sees”A supporter who opens your link or scans your QR code does not sign in or create an account. They land on the organization’s page, or straight on the fundraiser’s page when it is the only one listed there and it is taking orders. Either way they see a banner that reads “You’re ordering through Ellie’s link. Every order is credited to Ellie.” It shows only the seller’s first name, never the last name or the group. The banner has a Don’t credit link with that first name, for a supporter who wants to stop crediting you. It appears on the organization’s page, the fundraiser and product pages, the cart and checkout.
If your link no longer works, for example because the member was removed from the roster, the organization’s page says “That link isn’t valid any more, so this order won’t be credited to anyone.” The supporter can still order, and the message suggests asking whoever shared the link for a new one.
For the whole buyer side, see Order through a seller’s link.
How you get credit
Section titled “How you get credit”When a supporter opens your link, their browser remembers it for 30 days. An order they place in that time is credited to you automatically, and it shows under All orders. See Orders and sales you record. If they open a different seller’s link, or select Don’t credit, the credit changes or stops. Your organization may also email you when an order is credited to you. See Notifications.
The full rules are in Attribution, including the other ways an order can be credited to you.
